August 2008

On the 2nd August, Nikki and I got married! What a fantastic day and I must say thanks to everyone who helped out with the wedding. I'd like to thank Elaine for the Wine, my parents for the money towards the buffet, Kristian and Jo for the cameras and main photography, Gill and Steve for the cake and paying for the entertainer and disco, Lorna for helping with the hall, Colin for being Best Man, Vicky for being Nikki's Maid of Honour, The Limo company, Paul and Michael for photography and Andy for videoing the wedding. If I've missed anyone else, sorry but thanks! We'd like to thank all for the presents too and we will be sending cards and thank you letters to all who gave presents. I'd like to also thank people we work or have worked with for coming too.

Here's some pictures from the special day.

July 2008

Last night was Nikki's Hen Night and although (obviously I didn't go!) it was hillarious to hear some of the stories which they all got up too! I'm cracking up laughing and I weren't even there!!! There was slips, bumps and much more, very amusing stuff. Just 6 days to go to the wedding now and Nikki and I hope we just have as much of a laugh on that day than they all had last night! I'd like to thank Louise for coming from Scotland, Sally (and Mark for driving) for travelling from Kent and all the others who live locally that made Nikki's night a night to remember!

About half of the people who went to the hen night! LOL :-)

Let's just hope there is clear weather on the big day!!! More satellite tv updates in the next month or so will be coming but until late August now, I won't be doing any more updates until after the Honeymoon!

June 2008

The TV EPG section has now been fully updated (2nd June!). The HD channels available on satellite are now shown on the TV section in red.

I would also like to acknowlege the new Freesat service and their website is availble from the links section of the website which will give you all the information you need to know about it.

I'm fed up with petrol prices now and it's about time tax was cut from fuel, not added to it! It has a knock on effect to all parts of society including food prices and inflation. The economy is in a real mess and it's time for Labour to go!

May 2008

There have been a few changes to the EPG lately and the website will be updated very soon to reflect this.

It's been a busy few months since becoming a Dad to Lucy and what a fantastic time it has been! Yesterday, I managed to get around to tidying the garden up and the wedding is not too far away either! A lot of planning has gone into it and it's all finally coming together. I'd like to thank everyone involved for their help and generosity.

I'd like to thank people who have been buying through my Amazon adverts on the website, it all helps keep the website going which is fantastic for me.

Vote for change!

February 2008

An update for 2008!

Bad news for DAB digital radio with GCap's annoucement stating basically that the DAB platform is too expensive to broadcast from. Planet Rock and The Jazz are set to get the chop at the end of March 2008 which is a real pity, espcially as Planet Rock was my favourite DAB station. Looks like it's time to consider an internet radio now which are crashing down in price. With Worldspace currently off the air in Europe and Africa it's a shame for radio at the moment.

Today, Sunday the 17th February, I have got around to updating the Satellite TV and Radio pages with the latest stations and EPG changes. Will work on Freeview and probably look at DAB section in April.

My daughter, Lucy is growing up fast already. She is now almost 2 months old. Recent picture below.

I recently joined Facebook too for anyone who wishes to contact me via that who remembers me or wants to talk about Basildon, Satellite tv, Satellite radio and amateur radio bits etc!

Lucy on the 17th February 2008

Back again soon.

December 2007

I'm over the moon! I'm now a Dad to a beautiful girl called Lucy! She was born at Basildon Hopsital on the 20th December 2007 and here she is on Christmas day in her Pudding Suit!

Lucy on Christmas Morning, just five days old!

At last an update on the blog!

My other half today had "a show" and we have been down the hospital most of the day. Good news is the baby's heart beat is fine and so is Nikki. Baby should be due any day now.

The price of petrol has just recently gone over the pound a litre mark in Basildon. The other day I spent just over a pound a litre on petrol and I feel it is time something was done about it. I agree with all enviromental issues being the top of the agenda but don't think motorists or the country as a whole benefit from higher taxation on petrol as it has a knock on effect to the cost of everything else.

More Basildon issues will appear on here next year and an online forum etc. Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year!

October 2007

Well I've finally got around to updating the website a bit! The satellite tv and satellite radio pages have been updated. Took a while but it's worth it to keep track of all those channels and ideal for anyone curious to know what is available on satellite TV. The multi-satellite section will be coming back soon and so will an updated Freeview/Top-Up TV section. New updated Amazon adverts are on the website and by buying purchases these products you help keep this website going!

I recently bought a dog for Nikki and her name is "Magic!" She is a Labrador and keeps us fit when we take her out for walks (or should that be the other way round?!) Talk about calm somedays and loopy the next! Very funny!

Magic!

Just 2 months to go and I should be a Dad! Can't wait! It is expected to be a girl so we will call her Lucy Jessica.

I recently policed at Burnham Carnival and that was an experience with the lit up lorries and people. Highly recommended and a great night.

July/ Early August 2007

No update here for July so here is an early one for early August instead!

Myself at the Big Brother 8 house on the 10th August 2007 - Amy eviction night!

Last night, 10th August, I went with my Dad to stand outside the Big Brother 8 house and watch Amy get evicted! Here is a short video of just before the show started. It was a great night and I'd highly recommend it and would love to go again! What a great atmosphere!!! I keep saying if Brian wins it would be funny because my name is Brian and I'm from Basildon too!!!!

I have now completely finished my police training too and will be on the beat very soon in the South Eastern division of Essex.

Tuesday the 14th will be a big day when my other half, Nikki has a scan and we should know if it will be either a boy or girl! Can't wait.

Hope you all like the new look of the site, I have much more multimedia in mind and more Basildon pictures/history to come soon.

June 2007

Today is the 30th June and today, Nikki, Emma and I have been painting in a shop (see www.popinandpaint.co.uk for the nearest locations) where we have been painting various objects. I hadn't picked up a small paintbrush since I was at school but it was great and we all loved it. I would highly recommend it to anyone out there with children. We'll certainly be going back. Below is a picture of Nikki's pot which she painted today!

Nikki's painted pot!

I've been watching a lot of Big Brother this month and for once I am finding it difficult to choose a winner from the start. My guess of a winner is probably either Liam or Brian but we will just have to see. People where I work either love the programme or hate it but I have to say that I am a great fan of the show and think it's a great conversation starter!

What horrible weather we're having here in the UK! All I've mainly seen this month is cloud and heavy downpours. Our new shed is getting wet with just a small amount of leakage which isn't too bad!

Well the wedding between Nikki and I has now been postponed until the 2nd August 2008. This is so that the baby can be born first and for us to be able to save a bit more money for a better event and experience on the day for our guests.

May 2007

Well it's certainly been a busy couple of months! I have been training to be a Special Constable over the last few months and last night, the 22nd May 2007, I attended the official Attestation where I and the rest of the training team each read an oath to uphold the law infront of a hall full of people and a majestrate! That was a bit nerve-racking but it was a great moment and one which I will remember for the rest of my life, I'm sure!

Police Attestation Photograph

This was a very proud moment for myself and my family as you could imagine. Many thanks to everyone for their support!

My other half is 11 weeks pregnant and the baby is due around the 17th December which is great news!

March 2007

Today is the 25th March and I have today rang the Equity Insurance Group Brentwood Half Marathon in 2 hours and 19 minutes! This is a better result than last year by 4 and a half minutes so I'm quite chuffed! Thanks to everyone who sponsored me this year and hopefully See photograph below of my medal!1 Thanks also to Nikki, Emma and my parents for support not far from the finishing line! I raised £91 for the Brentwood Rotary Club and this may actually stretch to £101 as one of my mates just said he would give me a tenner.

25th March 2007 - Picture of Emma and myself pointing at my Brentwood Half Marathon medal.

I have been training for a couple of things lately. One is a worthwhile community training exercise and the other is for my work where I am sitting the Foundation Insurance Test which I hope to pass by the end of the year. My ambition is to get the letters Cert. CII after my name by the end of next year!

February 2007

This month I have been joined a football team in Pitsea, been developing computer games in Blitz Basic and also improving on my spreadsheet skills. I've even cooked pancakes for the third year running too!

One of the pancakes I cooked!!!

One of my spreadsheets is now available in the astronomy section of this website so give it a go!

January 2007

Happy New Year! What a great but hectic one that was with my parents and Nikki's Mum, her Nikki's Mum's husband and her Nan all coming over for Christmas dinner!

Christmas Dinner 2006!

Nikki done really well cooking and as I'm not a good cook I ended up doing the majority of the washing and wiping up! It was worth it though as we all enjoyed it.

Some big developments with the website are a change of theme! It now covers satellite/radio and Mastertronic computer game nostalgia. It took absolutely days to scan all the covers and do the HTML webpages for the Mastertronic section but I'm pleased with it. The DAB section is back too now showing Stereo, Mono and Bit Rate data too!

Amazingly I also mowed the front garden the other day too! The weather is really rather warm for January if you ask me so I took advantage of it!

We also bought a new rabbit this month to go with our other rabbit, Stig. The new rabbit is called Thumper! Here are the pictures of our rabbits. The white one is the new one, Thumper and the other one is Stig!

November 2006

The new addition to the family as of the 21st November 2006! OSCAR!

This month has been quite busy but I am due some days off work soon which is a nice end to the year.

Nikki, Emma and I decided we wanted a cat so we bought a second-hand cat called Oscar from a lady in Southend. As you can see, this cat is a lovable fellow!

October 2006

Nikki Watton and Brian Kemp on Southend Pier 29th October 2006

Today is the 29th October and the above photograph was taken by Emma of my other half, Nikki Watton and myself, Brian Kemp. It was taken at the end of Southend Pier using my FinePix Fujifilm A340 digital camera.

This month I have mainly spent at work but at least I have managed to start the Christmas shopping! Today though, I did have a good day out down Southend which was great! I've not been down to Southend seafront for about two years now but apart from a few changes, it's just the same. We had a great fish and chips Bailey's Fry Inn! Well recommended!

I have been enjoying the website "www.youtube.com" and plan to start putting video clips onto that website from around Basildon soon!

The website has been updated with more links this month and more links will be added each and every month. Blitz Basic programs are on their way to this website with a special Basildon search engine which will be downloadable soon as a zip file from this very website! It absolutely whips HTML and other languages for diversity so look out for this in 2007! It will be called Basooo!

That's all for this month!

My current Blitz Basic project is a virtual tour of Basildon using directional arrows and this will soon be online and working! With the power of Blitz Basic behind it, it's far superior to HTML!!! A download will appear on this website ready for January 2007 labelled as Basildon - Virtual Tour Download - In the meantime though here is a screen-shot with the source code in the background around the side!!!

A picture of the Basildon Virtual Tour project written in Blitz Basic by myself

Come back next month for an update!!!
